Care; the congress

Quite a lot of research has been done on the influence of spatial conditions and design to healing and well-being. In the Netherlands recently some bespoke hospital and care concepts have been developed, in which perception of patients as guests or residents is central. This congress aims at stakeholders and decision makers in the care industry and debates success and fail factors in healing environments, the importance of evidence based design and the results of recent design research will be presented.

A series of debates on Interior Architecture

Discussion and sharing of knowledge in a series of debates around the historic, cultural, artistic and economic importance of interior architecture, organized by BNI, the Dutch Association of Interior Architects and the Culture Factory. Aimed at interior architects, designers, researchers, students, decision makers and the general public.

Icamt Congress

The annual congress of the International Committee for Architecture and Museum Techniques of ICOM, the International Council of Museums. The congress will give an overview of recent Dutch and Amsterdam’s museum projects; Hermitage Amsterdam, the Stedelijk Museum, Rijksmuseum, Filmmuseum, Scheepvaartmuseum, Ons Lieve Heer op Solder, Joods historisch Museum, het Grachtenhuis, House of Bols, Amsterdam Museum, Royal Palace etc.

A thousand chairs

The World Interiors Meeting, the international top event for the professional community is taking place in the Beurs van Berlage, a building that is not originally designed as a conference hall. For the convention the main conference hall will be filled with all the chairs of Dutch make.

ECIA General Assembly

The European Council of Interior Architects ECIA is the representative body for the European professional organizations in Interior Architecture and Design. Founded in 1992, ECIA currently represents 16 national organizations with over 7500 practicing Interior Architects and Designers. ECIA's 2013 annual General Assembly will be organized in connection with the World Interiors Meeting inamsterdam.

Theo Lunsingh Scheurleer Lecture

Since 2005 the Dutch Association for  Interiors Heritage organizes this lecture by a reknowned international speaker. Earlier lecturers include the American author and architect Prof. Witold Rybscynski and RIBA curator Dr. John Harris.
The 2013 lecture will focuss on the international influences on the development of the Dutch interior. Ancient influences (Egypt, China, Italy), colonial influences (The Dutch West and East Indies) and recent international cultural diversity will be considered.
